Three Ingredient Chocolate Cake Recipe

Two easy chocolate cake recipes for all occasions, or no reason at all!

Chocolate cake in a mug

My favorite chocolate cake recipe since my Easy-Bake Oven desserts!

Yes, my fellow brothers and sisters with late night chocolate cravings, here is a little solution for our sinful secret. Baking is not one of my stronger skills (even though I pretend to be Nigella Lawson in my dreams), but I do have a strong appreciation for all things simple. Well, here is a tasty treat for all of us who love chocolate cake, but don’t have the patience or the expertise to bake one:

Three Ingredient Chocolate Cake Recipe

There are two variations of this recipe: one is in a cup and the other in a tray. If your cravings hit you and there is not an oven in sight, then check out the first recipe.

Chocolate cake in a cup:

For this recipe you will need one egg, a quarter tablespoon powdered sugar and two table spoons of cocoa powder. You can increase the quantity of the cocoa powder if you want the chocolate rich (totally my style). No cocoa power? No problem! Grab a bar of chocolate and melt it. Mix all three ingredients in a cup and stick it in the microwave for about a minute. Bonus: top it all off with a scoop of ice cream and enjoy! Now, this is heaven in a cup!

Chocolate cake in a tray:

You will need 6 eggs, chocolate chips (12oz) and unsalted butter (6tbsp). To prepare, whip the eggs together till they fluff up and separately melt the chocolate and butter (this should take about a minute and a half to melt it). Grease a baking tray and add the mixture (add the whisked eggs to the chocolate + butter, mix thoroughly). Bake for about 20-25 minutes at 325 degrees. Voila! Your cake is ready to serve!
